Calling all little local artists!

Writer's picture: MattMatt

We are working on a project where we are turning small drawings and artwork into 3D-printed magnets.

A few months ago, our 8-year-old artist came to me with a request to turn one of his drawings into a 3D print. I loved the idea and immediately went to Autodesk Fusion with a photo of his artwork and something that could be printed. We ended up creating a laminated stack of 3D-printed layers to create a cool-looking magnet in the likeness of the original drawing. We thought it would be cool to try this idea out with other little artists to challenge us and see what others think.

We are looking for about a dozen pictures of artwork from little Rhode Island artists to test out this process.

What we need from you:
  • 1 good photo of the artwork (not the original) submitted to us. We are looking for a character or thing that we can create rather than a scene, so be sure to pick something with a good subject!

  • Permission for us to use the original photo, any production images, and/or final prototype photos of the artwork in our blog, website, or in ads as an example (but never to sell).

What you will get from us:
  • A free prototype* of your submitted artwork 3d printed and shipped to you. (At no cost whatsoever, but with no guarantee of quality or a particular result, it’s a prototype!)

  • Your submission will be featured in a gallery & blog post to spotlight the art and creation.

*We expect prototypes to ship by the end of June, but the date is subject to change.

Thank you for helping us grow, experiment, and spread the word!
